Updating to Sibelius 5.2.5 from Sibelius 5.0

Here are installation instructions for Windows and Mac.

If you are currently running Sibelius 5.1, not Sibelius 5.0, you should follow these installation instructions instead.

It is recommended that you do not update your copy of Sibelius in the middle of a project.

Installing the update on Windows

  • Quit Sibelius 5.
  • In order to install Sibelius 5.2.5, you must first uninstall Sibelius 5.0. Open Control Panel, and double-click Add/Remove Programs (Windows XP) or Programs and Features (Windows Vista). In the window that appears, select Sibelius 5, then click Change/Remove (Windows XP) or Uninstall (Windows Vista).
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall Sibelius 5.0.
  • The file you have downloaded is a self-extracting archive containing the files necessary to install Sibelius 5.2.5. Double-click the downloaded Sibelius525English.exe file to begin installation.
  • You will be asked if you want to install Sibelius 5.2.5; click Yes.
  • A progress bar appears as the installation components are extracted.
  • If you do not have Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 installed, you will be prompted to install it before installation can continue.
  • If you do not have Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 installed, you will be prompted to install it before installation can continue.
  • Follow the simple on-screen steps to install the software. When the installer completes, you will find a Sibelius 5 shortcut on your desktop.
  • Once the installation has completed, you can delete the downloaded Sibelius525English.exe file if you wish, though you may want to e.g. burn it to CD-ROM to avoid having to download it again in future.

Now run Sibelius 5.2.5. Choose About Sibelius from the Help menu, and check the version number: it should read Version 5.2.5 build 37.
