The GPO4 and JABB3 sound sets listed below are updated versions of the sound sets included with Sibelius 6.2. If you are not yet running Sibelius 6.2, download and install the update before using these sound sets.

• Garritan Jazz and Big Band 3 »
  7 May 2010 – corrects some problems with loading drum kits, maracas, and a handful of other sounds
• Garritan Personal Orchestra 4 »
  31 Jan 2011 – corrects sound IDs for organ flute and cornet stops; corrects volume type for organ sounds
• Garritan Concert and Marching Band 2 »
  23 August 2010 – new sound set for the ARIA-compatible version of this library; corrects some problems with loading certain sounds

Sibelius Sound Set Editor

The Sibelius Sound Set Editor is a free application for Windows XP, Windows Vista and Mac OS X 10.4 or later that allows you to create sound sets for Sibelius 5 or later.

Sound sets for Sibelius 5.2

The following additional sound sets are currently available for download for Sibelius 5.2:

  18 April 2008 – a version of the Essentials sound set that only contains the General MIDI sounds

Note that downloading a sound set does not make these sounds available to you. Trying to use a sound set for a device or sample library that you do not own will produce incorrect playback and other error messages.

Installing a sound set

To install a sound set:

• Download the sound set you want, and extract the archive.
• One or more XML files (e.g. Sibelius Essentials.xml) will be extracted.
• Copy the XML file or files to the following folders:
  • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Application Data\Sibelius Software\Sibelius 5\Sounds
  • Windows Vista: C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\Sibelius Software\Sibelius 5\Sounds
  • Mac OS X: /Users/your username/Library/Application Support/Sibelius Software/Sibelius 5/Sounds

(You may have to create the Sibelius 5 and Sounds folders yourself.)

To use this sound set inside Sibelius, use the Play > Playback Devices dialog. See 4.10 Playback devices in Help > Sibelius Reference for more details.
